Buhari arrives Abuja, awaits election results

President Muhammadu Buhari has landed at the Presidential wing of the Nnamadi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja this morning. Buhari, who  left the katsina airport at 10:47am to Abuja, via presidential aircraft, landed in Abuja at about 11.40am. The president is expected to fly to the presidential villa, Abuja from the airport. Recall that the president arrived Katsina state on Friday for the Presidential and National Assembly elections. Buhari is seeking a reelection on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. Credit: Dailytrust

Tanzania seeks Dangote’s investment in petroleum

ALIKO DANGOTE Tanzania has asked the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, to invest in their country’s petroleum and cement industry. This was disclosed by the Commissioner in the High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mr. Muhidini Ally Mboweto yesterday. The diplomat said this when he led a delegation from Tanzania High Commission and the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) on a study tour of the Dangote Refinery and Fertilizer plants in Lagos. He said collaboration between Dangote Group and the Tanzanian government will make the country self-sufficient in petroleum products. Human rights lawyer faults INEC’s decision to stop campaign

A Human Rights lawyer Dr Kayode Ajulo, on Monday, faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the ban on campaign. NAN reports that the two leading parties, All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday argued that the commission’s restriction has no basis in law. Ajulo in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Ilorin, that the chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu could not by mere pronouncement amend the provisions of Section 99 of the Electoral Act. According to Ajulo, Section 99 of the electoral act allows political campaign till 24 hours to election. He said he would continue to campaign for the candidate of his choice in accordance with the law of the land. Ajulo said that INEC’s directive should be ignored, adding that he would be having a solo road show for his candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari to activate the above statutory provision and test the efficacy of the illegal ban....
